'Tai Ping is the parent company of an international carpet group with manufacturing facilities in Thailand and China. They have recently launched an all wool carpet tile range into the UK. Available in a variety of patterns and colours, the range features an innovative backing system, Premise®, which is a non-pvc cushion backing with excellent comfort and sound insulation properties. Premise® features significant post consumer polyester bottle waste. The product has the NSF/ANSI 140-2007E Sustainable Carpet Assessment environmental rating, the factories are ISO 9001 and 14001 accredited and it has a recognised accreditation for indoor air quality. The 'Tai Ping Towards Sustainability Programme' drives development work towards goals such as the recovery and recycling of post consumer product. In addition the company has committed to the TLS 8001 people management standard which is best practice in management training development of staff.Pile Material.
The wools used in Tai Ping Contract products are blended from sustainable New Zealand and UK growers for optimum aesthetics and performance. Wool from New Zealand is soft to the touch but also hard wearing and vibrant in appearance when dyed. It is claimed that wool pile can act as an air purification media trapping contaminants which can be removed by vacuuming. Backing
The Premise® backing system features 80% recycled polyester (PET) from bottles which have been diverted from landfill. There is an additional 5% post industrial waste and only 15% virgin material. The product matches or outperforms the standards achieved by conventional pvc or bitumen backed carpet tiles and has additional sound insulation and underfoot comfort benefits. The backing is potentially fully recyclable into new backing and a development programme to achieve this is underway.'
