Forticrete 'Gemini'

Interlocking Twin Plain Roof Tile
'Forticrete’s award winning Gemini® twin interlocking plain tile is part of the company’s EcoTile family of products. Specifically designed as an interlocking tile it is just 270mm x 337mm overall, yet because of a carefully judged central groove and innovative ‘double cambered’ design, it has the appearance of two traditional plain tiles side-by-side when laid.
Because of its design, installers effectively lay two traditional plain tiles at a time, which means fewer tiles are required to cover the same area as a conventional double lapped plain tile. This innovative product assists in reducing the build cost and more importantly, the environmental impact. The environmental benefits of this innovative double plain tile means that a significant reduction of 40% less energy is used in the manufacturing process in comparison with traditional concrete plain tiles. In addition, 40% less aggregate, packaging and transport per roof is required. In addition, similar benefits are also available when compared to clay plain tiles.
Whereas most traditional plain tiles can only be lay to pitches of 35° and use up to 60 tiles per m2, the Gemini tile offers an alternative interlocking tile solution which is fixed with only a single nail and clip. The tile can be laid to pitches as low as 22.5° and only require 16.3 tiles per m2, resulting in a significant cost reduction.
They feature increased tile strength in comparison with traditional plain tiles and an even stronger, tighter interlock as standard and are easy to install.
The Gemini tile’s colour range is designed to suit every regional variation found across the UK. A new collection of textured finishes has recently been added to the range. Available in two colours, the Ember Blend and the Mercia Blend, the new finishes provide an older, weathered finish for use in rural or established areas where blending with traditional roofscapes is a must.''
