Springvale ‘Platinum Fulfil’
thermal insulation, external cavity wall, full fill, rigid, polystyrene
‘Springvale Platinum Fulfil is a tightly interlocking full fill cavity insulation panel individually moulded from lightweight closed cell Neopor® grade EPS intended for use in new masonry walls without the need for special retaining clips. Springvale Platinum Fulfil is suitable for use in new buildings up to and including 12 metres in height. When installed correctly Springvale Platinum Fulfil boards are effective in achieving the required U-value of new external cavity walls with masonry inner and outer leaves (where masonry includes clay and calcium silicate bricks, concrete blocks, natural and reconstructed stone blocks). It is essential that such walls are designed and constructed to incorporate the normal precautions to prevent moisture penetration. The use of the product does not preclude the need to apply any external render coat or other suitable finish in severe exposure zones where such application would be normal practice.
The Springvale Fulfil concept was developed in conjunction with the Building Research Establishment at Garston, and in consultation with NHBC. The Platinum Fulfil boards are tongued and grooved on all four sides to provide tightly interlocking joints which prevent cold bridging and water penetration. On the external face, along the bottom edge of the board, an angled fillet or bellcast, designed to overlap the top of the next board, helps to protect the lateral joints by shedding water past the joint. A series of 5mm water 'run-off' angle fillets on the external face of the panel direct any water which has penetrated the external leaf of the wall down the external face of the fulfil panels and back onto the outer masonry leaf. Springvale Platinum Fulfil with its moulded skin is highly water resistant, and encourages rapid run-off.
