Colas 'Repave'
Surface course material for asphalt paving
‘A pavement, although sound, can sometimes show signs of deformation or surface fretting. In such a situation, Repave provides a faster, more cost effective alternative to traditional forms of surfacing. The process allows flexibility of programming - the heat from Repave penetrates deep into the road material allowing work to take place at virtually any time of year.
The existing road surface is heated to 150º C and scarified to a depth of 30mm using a two-stage scarifier with spring loaded tines to avoid damage to street furniture. Next an oscillating, floating screed reprofiles and corrects levels for the required crown or crossfall.
The process is completed by the immediate application of either a 25mm bituminous wearing course, hot rolled asphalt with 20mm pre-coated chippings, high stone content asphalt or a proprietary thin surfacing. The heat from the Repave machine welds the new materials removing the need for a tack coat.
Repave complies with Department of Transport Specification for Highway Works Clause 926’
