Foamglas 'Wallboard'
insulation of external walls
Applications:
- insulation of cavity walls - new build
- external insulation of walls with cladding
- insulation of external walls with cement-based renders - new build or renovation
The use of FOAMGLAS® in cavity wall situations immediately eliminates the three main problems affecting insulation and its performance within a cavity wall - water absorption, distortion and fire. Manufactured from pure glass, FOAMGLAS® is totally impermeable to water and water-vapour ensuring that the installed K-value remains constant for the lifetime of the building with no degradation caused by moisture penetration or vapour transmission. Being totally rigid and unaffected by variations in temperature and humidity, FOAMGLAS® cannot sag, slump or distort, the most common sources of cavity bridging and resultant water penetration problems. FOAMGLAS® is totally non-combustible and cannot contribute to a fire nor give off toxic fumes or smoke; it is also totally free from HCFC, HFA and pentane.
FOAMGLAS® is the ideal insulation for use on exterior walls as it can be applied directly to the existing external wall surface. This has the advantage in renovation situations of providing an immediate opportunity for upgrading the appearance. Being totally impervious to water and water-vapour, any seepage of water through poor external wall construction is eliminated and excellent insulation values achieved and maintained. FOAMGLAS® does not deteriorate with age, ensuring that these values remain constant. FOAMGLAS® is rigid and dimensionally stable, so it does not shrink or warp with the effects of climatic variance. With only a minute coefficient of expansion, (approximately that of concrete), there is no danger of joints between the boards opening up.'
