Colas 'Deep Recycling'

Deep in-situ road recycling service

In-Depth Recycling
The process whereby damaged layers of a road surface are pulverised to various depths from 125 to 350mm, mixed with appropriate grades and quantities of binder and then relaid to exacting standards.

After initial pulverisation, the surface is compacted and trimmed. Excess material is removed before recycling binders such as foamed bitumen, bitumen emulsion and cement are added and mixed in thoroughly. The material is again compacted and the surface shaped by motor grader to the required levels. Finally, the surface is coated with bituminous emulsion and sealing grit, after which it can be subjected to traffic. Depending on design requirements, a final surface is laid, appropriate to site conditions.’
