Hunton ‘Bitroc’

Impregnated softboard wall sheathing:

‘Bitroc has been designed for use as a sheathing for Timber and Steel Frame constructions, where it provides good racking strength and thermal insulation. The bitumen which is impregnated throughout the board together with the additional coating on the external face prevents the boards from ageing, and gives weather tightness to enable finishing of the interior if outside completion is delayed.

The composition of Bitroc gives an excellent thermal conductivity value of 0.05 Wm/K compared to other timber sheathing boards with their conductivity of 0.13 Wm/K and is the preferred Scandinavian sheathing for timber frame housing where the regulations require a U value of 0.15 Wm/K through the walls.’
