SCS Aquavoid-D
Underground stormwater chamber
'Aquavoid is a water-permeable box with a large storage capacity allowing rainwater to be temporarily stored and then released gradually into the soil.
SCS Aquavoid is an extremely strong modular water-permeable polypropylene unit with a large storage capacity. With each unit capable of holding almost one third of a cubic metre Aquavoid is ideal for the rapid construction of large storage capacities whilst retaining the flexibility required by many schemes. Installed units are capable of withstanding very high loadings making it the ideal choice for retaining stormwater for SUDS applications.
Construction
These underground storage units are wrapped in a 180g non woven, needle punched geotextile (SCS GT1900) to allow water discharge to the subsurface, but may not allow any soil or sand particles to go through. The box has a high bearing capacity and can easily be expanded in all directions.
The construction of the storage void is achieved by the use of the SCS Aquavoid, a geocellular high-quality synthetic rectangular box with dimensions 1.0m x 1.0m x 0.333 m (LxWxH) with a storage capacity of 0.333 cubic metres (95% void ratio). The standard loading capacity of 600 kN/m2 is sufficient for most situations, however this capacity can be increased if required to suit exceptional loading conditions.
Why use Aquavoid?
- Prevents extreme peak flows to main drainage and water purification systems;
- Rainwater is “cleaned” by geotextile surround;
- Decreases inconvenience of flooding during heavy rain falls;
- Promotes the balance in the groundwater position;
- Decreases environment problems caused by development.'
