New Demolition and Waste Specifications from the NGS - A38, C13, C20 and C91
Waste and particularly its reduction from construction sites has been the subject of much research and development of late. Numerous organisations, including BRE, CIRIA, CC, CE, CIOB DTI, EA, ICE and TSO, have addressed the topic of construction, demolition and excavation waste (CDEW) in their publications, but much more needs to be done to convert their work into useful information for contract specifications. GreenSpec has taken the intiative in publishing new specifications that complement and extend those already produced by the NBS covering demolition and waste issues. A38 CONSTRUCTION RESOURCE MANAGEMENT/WASTE MINIMISATION
This is a stand alone specification Preliminaries to be read with NBS Preliminaries where it can be placed in alpha-numeric order. These clauses and their Guidance Notes act as a guide to the many issues, initiatives and publications available on waste. They address the issues and provide a comprehensive collection of clauses driving waste reduction on any contract and procurement route. A38 is complimentary with C20 & C91 trade specifications. C13 BUILDING FABRIC SURVEY
These clauses address Pre-demolition, Pre-refurbishment & Reclamation Audits. They determine what materials exist, their condition and quantities. Materials are recorded in Pre-Demolition Audit schedules and Bill of Pre-Demolition Quantities to enable reclamation and reuse. This complements the Demolition Protocol prepared for London Remade.
