FSC-Certified Timber Frame Structures and Buildings
Benfield ATT are a national Timber Frame Design & Build company,
offering the UK’s first FSC-Certified Timber Frame Buildings. FSC
(Forestry Stewardship Council) Timber Studs are typically 4-15% thicker,
contributing to the energy-efficiency of the completed building. The timbers
are "super dried", so that after a period of 7 days (this is
typically 5 days), the moisture content is reduced in a controlled manner
to an average of 14%. Once out of the kiln, the timber is then allowed
to cure in a warehouse over 1 or 2 days, depending on the temperature.
Visual appraisal is undertaken by trained personnel to ensure uniformity
of straightness and appearance. This is followed by machine strength grading
to BSEN 519 C16 and C24 grades and regularising to BS EN 336 T2 tolerance.
FSC Certified Timber Frame buildings are built to the designer's plans,
offering a completely tailored service.
Benfield ATT can work with the building designer from the beginning to
incorporate FSC Certification, or they can re-design any plans into FSC
Timber Frame. Suitable for Home Extensions, Self-Build Homes, Blocks of
Flats, Developments and Local Authority projects.
